Your security is our priority. While CCBNZ invest heavily in technology to keep your accounts safe, you also play a vital role in protecting yourself from fraud and scams. Follow these simple steps to stay secure online, on your devices, and with your money.
- Be cautious of unexpected emails, texts, or calls. Scammers often pretend to be from your bank, a government agency, or a well-known company.
- Never share your password or one-time codes. CCBNZ will never ask you for these details.
- Look out for red flags. Poor spelling, urgent demands, or unfamiliar links are signs of phishing or smishing (SMS scams).
- If in doubt, stop and check. Contact CCBNZ directly on 0800 299 5533 or +64 (9) 338 8200 from overseas, or email at fraud@nz.ccb.com on the CCBNZ website, not the one in the suspicious message.
- Keep software up to date. Always install the latest updates for your phone, computer, and apps.
- Use reputable antivirus and anti-malware tools. Run regular scans to prevent malicious software.
- Secure your Wi-Fi. Avoid using public or unsecured networks for banking.
- Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Adding an extra layer of verification helps keep your account safe.
- Choose strong and unique passwords. Avoid reusing passwords across different services.
- Log out when you finish. Don't leave banking sessions open on shared or public devices.
- Monitor your accounts. Check transactions regularly and report anything unusual immediately.
- Confirm payee details. Double-check the name and account number before sending money.
- Use secure payment methods. Look for “https://” and a padlock icon when shopping online.
- Lock out of your online banking. If you suspect fraud, contact CCBNZ immediately on 0800 299 5533 or +64 (9) 338 8200 from overseas, or email at fraud@nz.ccb.com.
