Published time: 2022-06-28

On June 8, 2022, Ms. Sun Nianbei, General Manager of CCB Singapore Branch, was invited to attend the launch ceremony of the Glasgow Financial Alliance For Net Zero (GFANZ)’s APAC Network Office in Singapore, held at the Singapore Exchange.

GFANZ was launched in April 2021 by UN Special Envoy for Climate Action and Finance Mark Carney and the COP26 Presidency. With over 450 member firms currently, GFANZ brings together existing and new net-zero finance initiatives in one sector-wide coalition and provides a forum for leading financial institutions to accelerate the transition to a net-zero global economy.

GFANZ’s new regional network in the Asia-Pacific region with the central office in Singapore will support the expansion of net-zero finance and help accelerate the region’s transition to a net-zero economy. Mr. Ravi Menon, Managing Director of Monetary Authority of Singapore, Mr. Mark Carney, Co-Chair of GFANZ, Mr. Loh Boon Chye, CEO of Singapore Exchange, and Mr. Pillay Sandrasegara, CEO of Temasek Holdings, attended the event and delivered speeches.

On June 9, Ms. Sun Nianbei, General Manager of CCB Singapore Branch, participated in a closed-door roundtable meeting chaired by Mr. Mark Carney, as the only representative of a Chinese bank. Executives from the financial industry in the Asia-Pacific region discussed the latest efforts and development towards achieving Net Zero in 2050. Ms. Sun shared China’s latest measures and innovative achievements in green finance at the meeting, as well as the important role green finance has played for China to realise the peak-carbon and carbon neutralization goals. Ms. Sun also introduced CCB Group’s ongoing efforts in promoting sustainable growth through enhancing its capabilities in servicing green finance as a responsible big bank and corporate citizen.
